  5. To Caleb's Mom and Dad,

I heard about you from a friend of a friend - news such as yours travels to circles well beyond what you can imagine. I wanted to write and give you some hope and courage for the future. I have walked your path. My son, Adam, was diagnosed with ALL when he was 2 years old and underwent 2 1/2 years of chemo. He is now 26 years old and healthy and wise (working on the wealthy - haha). He was treated at Texas Children's Hospital and I also work there as a nurse on the 11th floor.

If you ever need to talk, I am here. You can contact me via email at dgarst@msn.com.

    God bless you all.

beating up Zach...Ha! I have all the faith in the world
your super powers will kick in to render you completely
healthy. And I know you will give it the good ole fight! I will be praying for you every day & nite. God will send special "blessings" to your Mom, Dad and Zach. I'll be keeping up with you and checking on your

  16. Melissa and Caleb. You do not know who I am, but a friend shared your story with me because my daughter had leukemia. She was 4 years old at the time and is now 10 and doing great!!. We know all to well what you are going through and know it is not easy, but we pray you have more good days than bad. Keep strong, hold each other up,keep smiling and continue to have a positive attitude. Trust me it makes all the difference. We will keep you in our prayers.

  17. Melissa and Caleb --

I'm so terribly sorry that you have to go through this, but know you are in the best place in the world for your treatment. My youngest daughter was diagnosed with ALL in 1998 and was treated at Texas Children's by their wonderful doctors, nurses and staff. I cannot say enough good things about them. She is now a sophomore at UH, and healthy as can be! In fact, my oldest daughter, a nurse, will be starting at TCH Oncology soon because she was so impressed with her sister's care. Please know that my family's thoughts and prayers are with you.

  19. I am praying for Caleb and your family during this difficult time. For the last six months I have opened my home to a young man named Lino (39) and his wife Peggy. Lino was going to be deployed to Afghanistan in May of this year and found out in April he had ALL. They left their 2 young girls with friends in Lindale, TX and drove to Houston to MDA to get the medical treatment he needed. He got into a trial that goes for 8 months (treatments) and he is on his 6 month treatment and he is in remission!! It hasn’t been an easy road for them, they are missing their girls, but I see the love that these two have for each other and I know God has a plan for them and soon they will go back home and continue to live a wonderful, blessed life thanks to MD Anderson. I wish Caleb all the best and know he is in good hands at Texas Children.

  21. Dear Wilson family, you are not alone in this fight! We too are coping with cancer and chemo with our sister. Its a scary road ahead but count all your blessings and you"ll see they outweigh all the bad news. Each day is one day closer to finishing your treatments! We'll say a prayer for you! ((hugs))

  22. My 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with the same disease last October. That waking nightmare feeling will fade as Caleb gets better. Next month he'll be in remission and feeling good again, and so will you. Have Caleb start thinking about his Make a Wish wish! Even though ALL has a very high cure rate with an excellent prognosis, it still counts for a wish. We're going to Disney World!

  23. Caleb and Family: We don't know one another, but my brother is your interim 'head of school' at CCA -- he may have told you, but my son Cade, is battling ALL right now - Cade is 15, but our world changed too on Dec 12, 2012 with his diagnosis. I can tell you that through many prayers, lots of hard work and God's grace, Cade is in the maintenance phase of chemo now and has an excellent prognosis. We are at MDA Childrens Cancer center, but I am certain the TxChildrens team is just as adept at bringing all the treatment regimens to bear as any place in the world. Stay Strong - Stay Faithful and know that CADE NATION has your back and will lift up many prayers on your behalf. Psalms 113:1-2

  26. My daughter was at TCH for other reasons a year or two ago- and a friend sent me this verse:

    Isaiah 41:10
10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.

    This became my motto-
keeping you all in our prayers.
