One day at a time....

It’s hard to come up with the right words to say.  “Big Red” chemo is a big bad boy of terrible side-effects, too graphic to describe.
Courage the Lion lends support during chemo.  I LOVE it when the couches are available, so that "the three" of us can snuggle.
I can tell you that by the grace of God, caring family & friends, prayer warriors from church and the boy’s school, Caleb is getting by.

He was able to get through “breathing his medications” treatment & chemo yesterday, but then he was just too weak to walk out of the hospital by himself.
Caleb got to watch a pirate movie throughout this treatment, but even that didn't make him smile.
Caleb’s blood counts are the lowest they’ve been in months.  For specific prayers, please ask God to protect this little boy from all types of infections.  It’s a huge responsibility that lies heavily on our hearts.  He’s taking more meds this week to try to offset the side-effects of his treatments.  Hopefully this will make a difference, IF he can swallow the pills.  About 10 per day is tough on him, and it usually takes 3 or 4 attempts, but he’s doing his very best.
"Accessing Cal's port" for chemo.  Zachary calls this the "fish hook going into his chest".  I prefer "accessing".
NO CHEMO NEXT WEEK, so now Caleb's body can rest over the next few weeks - without that powerful back-to-back punch.  For that, we are relieved.

Bible verses help get us through the dark days.  I hope they can help strengthen you on the good days and bad, as well. “Fear not, for I am with thee.  Be not dismayed, for I am thy God.  I will strengthen thee, I will help thee, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." (Isaiah 41:10) I honestly don't know how we would get through this without all of God's promises.  Dear Lord, I thank you for putting the belief and love of you in our hearts, so that we are able to get through this. We feel your power.  We feel your presence.  We know, without a shadow of a doubt, that you are near.  Amen.

  7. Melissa and family, While the updates are so hard to read, I check this site constantly to see how you are all doing. I continue to pray and I found a bible verse today that lets me know that God is going to help Caleb defeat cancer.
    Joshua 10:25
Joshua said to them, "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you are going to fight."
Caleb is fighting one terrible enemy but God is with him and he has the strength of you, your family, your prayer warriors, and God.
    We love you.
