Today was a full day for little man and things are happening fast! Caleb's had 2 bone marrow biopsies, a spinal tap and 2 doses of chemo today so obviously a rough day - a day like no other. His first dose of chemo was given directly into his spine under sedation. His second dose of chemo is starting tonight and being administered through an IV. These were big procedures and he is in a considerable amount of pain tonight. Please continue to pray for comfort, courage and a peace that surpasses all understanding. This is certainly hard to understand!
Caleb did have a few visitors today from school - he got a serious homework pass! :) It was good for him to be surrounded with familiar faces. His classmates sent him a sweet giant card. It not only decorates the walls - it will serve as a reminder that he has lots of fans cheering him.
Today was hard but blessings come on even the most difficult of days. Tomorrow is a new day and for that we will be thankful!!!
Prayers for Caleb's comfort and care continue.

ReplyDeleteMy son has neuroblastoma and we will start the last phase of treatment next month at TCH - we'll see you on 9! The nurses there are great and I have no doubt that Caleb will power through this! Prayers for your family, we know first-hand how this all strains you and your family.
ReplyDeletePraying that God will give Caleb and his family strength through all of this.

When my daughter was four she was diagnosed with ALL. She was admitted to TCH and the journey to fighting this cancer began. ALL the staff and nurses were wonderful. After 30 days she was in remission. She continued treatment for a total of 3 years. She is now 16 and has stayed cancer free. My prayers go out to Caleb and the family. It is a long journey, but you are in great hands with the doctors and nurses there at TCH.
ReplyDeletePrayers for Caleb and family. God NEVER gives us more than we can't handle. He will be with your family during this time.
ReplyDeleteMelissa, I have you, caleb, and all your family in my prayers. My heart goes out to you, philippians 4:7 and the peace of God, which passed all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
ReplyDeleteMelissa and Family, We completely know what you are going through and I can't think of a stronger and more supported family to go through it than yours. We will have you and Caleb in our daily prayers at our house. Your strength and courage will be hard to find, but it will truly inspire others around you. Don't be afraid to lean on anyone for help. I remember when only 2 weeks after starting chemotherapy, our son was declared "in remission" and has been there for almost 7 years. It was such a short time the leukemia was even in his body I had a moment of denial later that he ever actually had it. The treatment for ALL is so successful today and you couldn't be in better hands with Dr. Dreyer, truly. Blessings and peace to your family. Love, the Martinos
ReplyDeleteMany, many prayers your way. We had the chance to meet briefly for a 713News event - and you and your husband couldn't be more delightful. I know big Caleb will get through this - and have his graduation - wedding and "happily ever after!" God Bless you all!
ReplyDeleteContinued prayers to all of you.
ReplyDeleteSending you all love and many prayers! SO SORRY you all are going through all this. We are here for you.

My nephew, Tim, is living testiment to how fortunate we are in Houston; Tim beat ALL! In 1993, when Tim was 3, he was diagnosed with ALL. Thank God for the doctors and staff at TCH and MD Anderson. He has lived a very active life as a competitive swimmer and soccer player. Tim just finished his Associates degree and is looking forward to finishing his B.S. at UH. Prayers to you and to Caleb.
